דווקה

With its roots in Yiddish and Aramaic, דווקה or “davka” means to take action willfully, intentionally, and with purpose. (In modern Hebrew, it may also connote being contrarian.) The most simple definition, however, is precisely.

Business Consulting & Copywriting

YOU

You’re launching a product or business in the psychedelic or cannabis space, or maybe you’re looking to spruce up what you have, rebrand, whatever it may be. You need a strong grasp on the political, cultural, and industry landscape—the way policy is shaping up (decriminalization, legalization, medicalization, or religious exemption), where today’s science is at, where the market is trending, and what’s happening on the ground. Or maybe you need help crafting the narrative of your business, and getting the message out to the public.

SERVICE

With a literal lifetime’s experience in the cannabis and psychedelic space (yes, I grew up in this industry, activist movement, and culture) in addition to a decade’s worth of journalism experience reporting on cannabis and psychedelics, I am happy to offer market research, access to my professional and social network, copywriting, narrative messaging, media expertise, and other consulting services.

Individual Consulting

YOU

You’ve heard about the healing potential of psychedelics and cannabis, but don’t know where to start. You’re not sure the difference between ayahuasca and DMT, or LSD and magic mushrooms. If you’re exploring cannabis products for a particular medical condition, or simply to relax, figuring out the difference between this CBD product and that may be beyond your pay grade—how do you even navigate a dispensary? You’re new to cannabis or psychedelics, or maybe you’re a baby boomer returning to them after a decades-long break. Perhaps you’re not sure how to come out to your family or friends about your relationship to these substances, or maybe you’re looking for a way to ritualize the psychedelic experience and integrate it with your spiritual or religious practice. Perhaps you’re ready to start your journey with these substances, but need some extra support—recommendations for a somatic therapist, maybe, or a breath work facilitator, or even community so you feel less alone on this journey. Or maybe you’ve heard me talk about psychedelic Judaism and you’re thinking, “what’s that, and can I try?”

SERVICE

My decade’s worth of journalistic experience has allowed me the privilege to speak to seasoned experts all over the psychedelic and cannabis space—from leading therapists, scientists, and researchers to policymakers and pioneering renegades. I’ve collected these learnings and written about them, edited stories about them, and have absorbed them into my own know-how, which by popular demand, I’m ready to share with you. I’ve already done all the vetting on psychedelic retreat centers, brands and products, the best therapists in town, and other supportive professionals (yoga teachers, counselors, breath work facilitators, nutritionists, herbalists, chaplains, etc.) to round out your wholistic, psychedelic-inspired life. I’m happy to share these learnings with you, act as a sounding board, offer advice, and serve as a hub of information, resources, and contacts.

(Jewish & Agnostic) Psychedelic Mentorship

YOU

You’ve had a psychedelic experience, so now what? Or maybe you’re planning to journey, but need some wisdom on how to prepare—what to eat, what to marinate on in your journey, how to get started with an integration practice before you even trip. What does “integration” mean anyway, and of course, you’re probably wondering, “how do I get through a bad trip?” (Hint: Don’t call it a bad trip.) Maybe you come from a frum/observant background and want to understand the psychedelic experience through a Jewish framework; or on the flip side, perhaps you’re coming from a more secular background, but need spiritual guidance on how to integrate Jewish ritual into psychedelic practice (and vice versa). Unlike the client above, you’re not just looking for information, but for mentorship and hands-on guidance to put all this information into tangible practice.

SERVICE

Having co-produced DoubleBlind’s psychedelics-for-beginners course, I’m also working on a forthcoming book with Artisan Publishers about everything you need to know to prepare for, navigate, and integrate a psychedelic experience. I can speak to this from both a secular/agnostic perspective, as well as from a uniquely spiritual and Jewish lens, informed by the teachings of Ram Dass, the Baal Shem Tov, and Rebbe Nachman, among others. With more than 10 years’ professional experience doing extensive journalism and research on the psychedelic experience (including what I’ve learned from my own first-hand journeys), trauma (especially from a Jewish perspective), and the intersection of religious practice and altered consciousness, I am excited to share these teachings with you in a tangible, embodied way that enables you to use them in your own personal practice.
